FAQ

How much does an EV battery health check cost?

The MOT preview is free. The full report, with battery health, real-world range, battery warranty, finance and stolen checks, costs £9.99 per car.

Is this a physical battery test?

No. It is a data-based estimate using real-world range data for the model, adjusted for this car's age and mileage. If the car has had a ClearWatt battery test, the grade and result are shown too.

Which cars are covered?

Most fully electric cars sold in the UK. Plug-in hybrids and very new or rare models may not have a range estimate; if we cannot produce one, you get a full refund.

Why do you ask for the mileage?

Battery ageing depends on mileage as well as age. We pre-fill the last MOT mileage, but the current odometer reading gives a more accurate estimate.

Do I need an account?

No. Pay as a guest and your report opens straight away. We email you the private link.

Can I get a refund?

If we cannot produce the battery and range part of the report you are refunded automatically in full.

Range now vs new

We show the benchmark real-world range of the model when new and the expected range of this car today, given its age and mileage. The gap between the two is the best single guide to battery health without a physical test.

Why WLTP is not enough

The WLTP figure on the brochure is a lab result for a new car. Cold weather, motorway speeds and battery ageing all cut it. Our estimate uses real-world data for the model, not the lab figure.

Plan your journeys

Knowing the true range helps you decide whether the car suits your commute and how often you will need to charge on longer trips.
